In this unit we learned about value drawing, and how to successfully draw with it. I chose to work with graphite for my value drawing project. I chose this because the graphite was less messy and easier to work with. It was easier to work with the graphite value scale as I could use different graphite pencils to do it more precisly This is unlike the charcoal which is usually messy and difficult to change the value of the color. I made my composition interesting by creating a detail on the apples skin. Certain places are darker while some are lighter, this gave the skin a look of individuality. The problems I faced while working was the creating an even gradient of shading along the apples skin. I solved this by using my weighted pencils so the shades blended well. The most successful part of my work was the shape and shadowing of my apple.
